The PaedDr. distance learning program is a clearly research-focused continuing education program. The research performance within the scope of the rigorosum thesis is the core element of the program.

The PaedDr. distance learning program essentially consists of three parts:

1. Writing and Presentation of the Exposé
2. Writing the Rigorosum Thesis
3. Defense of the Rigorosum Thesis

The continuing education program takes place entirely independent of location. You will be enrolled at an accredited partner university and will receive the academic degree “Doctor of Education” (PaedDr.) from it.

Admission requirement: Master’s degree of the 2nd Bologna cycle in the field of education from an internationally recognized university.

To apply for the PaedDr. distance learning program, please use our registration form. Your application documents will then be reviewed. You will receive feedback on your admission as well as access to the learning platform via email. There are approximately 14 days between submitting your application documents and your actual program start.

The costs for the PaedDr. distance learning program amount to EUR 11,900 EUR 10,900 (limited until 07/31/2026) and include:

Flexible payment: One-time payment or installment payments possible; we will gladly provide you with an offer. Payment is made exclusively by bank transfer.

The conclusion of the further education program is the defense of the completed Rigorosum thesis.

Upon successful completion, you will receive the academic degree “PaedDr.” (Doctor of Education), awarded in the form of a diploma. The degree is recognized and can be used. It is prefixed to the name; an abbreviation as “Dr.” is not permitted.

The “Doctor of Education” (PaedDr.) is an academic degree of level 2/3 of the Bologna Process, acquired at an accredited private partner university. In Austria, the use and entry of the title is permitted according to § 88 UG Paragraph 1 & 1a.

As a general rule: Academic degrees may be used in the form in which they were acquired, provided they were acquired in a member state of the European Union at a university that is recognized and registered in the home country.

Upon successful completion, you are entitled to use your title as follows: PaedDr. First Name Last Name. The PaedDr. does not entitle you to use the title “Dr.”

The PaedDr. distance learning program is offered through an accredited, private partner university that provides tertiary education in Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral programs. Currently, around 2,500 people study there.

The mission of the partner university is the provision, organization, and assurance of higher education in accredited study programs, the implementation of creative scientific research, and a broad range of further education programs and educational activities.

To fulfill this mission, the partner university collaborates with higher education institutions, universities, private and public sector organizations, and non-governmental organizations, and participates in international projects.

You can start your PaedDr. distance learning program at any time, independent of semester schedules. Registration is location-independent: you simply upload your application documents online. After your registration, the admission review will be conducted by the partner university.
