The PhDr. distance learning program is a clearly research-centered further education program. The research work within the framework of the Rigorosum thesis is the core element of the program.
The PhDr. distance study program essentially consists of three parts:
- Writing and Presentation of the Exposé
- Writing the Rigorosum Thesis
- Defense of the Rigorosum Thesis
Das Weiterbildungsprogramm findet vollständig ortsunabhängig statt. Sie werden bei einer akkreditierten Partnerhochschule inskribiert und erhalten von dieser den akademischen Grad “Doktor der Philosophie in Ökonomie und Management” (PhDr.).
Admission requirement: Master’s degree (2nd Bologna cycle) in the field of Economics and Management from an internationally recognized university.

The conclusion of the further education program is the defense of the completed Rigorosum thesis.
Upon successful completion, you will receive the academic degree “PhDr.” (Doctor of Philosophy), awarded in the form of a diploma. The degree is recognized and can be used. It is placed before the name; an abbreviation as “Dr.” is not permitted.
The “Doctor of Philosophy in Economics and Management” (PhDr.) is an academic degree at level 2/3 of the Bologna Process, acquired at an accredited private partner university. In Austria, the use and registration of the title is permitted according to § 88 UG Paragraphs 1 & 1a.
As a general rule: Academic degrees may be used in the form in which they were acquired, provided they were acquired in a member state of the European Union at a university that is recognized and registered in the home country.
Upon successful completion, you are entitled to use your title as follows: PhDr. First Name Last Name. The PhDr. does not entitle you to use the title “Dr.”.
The PhDr. distance learning program is offered through an accredited, private partner university that provides tertiary education in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. Currently, around 2,500 people study there.
The mission of the partner university is the provision, organization, and assurance of higher education in accredited study programs, the implementation of creative scientific research, and a broad range of further education programs and educational activities.
To fulfill this mission, the partner university collaborates with higher education institutions, universities, private and public sector organizations, and non-governmental organizations, and participates in international projects.
You can start your PhDr. distance learning program at any time, independently of semester schedules. Registration is location-independent: you simply upload your application documents online. After your registration, the admission review is carried out by the partner university.
